When and how to clean your home water tank

A neglected tank collects sediment and algae and affects water quality.

Clean it when you notice sediment, a change in colour, taste or smell, after nearby construction, or periodically anyway.

Before refilling: empty it completely, remove sediment, rinse well with clean water and make sure the lid seals. For disinfection, use products made for water tanks and follow the manufacturer’s instructions, or hire a specialist.

Then refill with a water tanker from the nearest branch.
